Privacy Policy
How your data is handled and protected
What Is Collected
This survey collects only the information you voluntarily provide by filling in form fields and clicking Submit. This may include:
- Your answers to survey questions (age range, country, language use, attitudes, etc.)
- Optional map location data (if you choose to place markers on the interactive map)
- An optional email address if you choose to provide one for follow-up contact
- The date and time of submission (UTC, no time zone or location inferred)
What Is Explicitly Not Collected
- IP addresses
- Browser fingerprints or device identifiers
- Cookies (beyond a temporary session, used only for navigation)
- Geolocation data from your device
- Any data from third-party tracking services (no analytics, no advertising)
Where Your Data Is Stored
Survey responses are stored in a database and systems only used in research contexts. This server:
- Is not affiliated with or accessible to any state or government agency
- Is not connected to any commercial data-sharing arrangement
- Is administered solely with the purpose of advancing language research
Potentially Identifying Information
Some questions ask for information that, in combination with other answers, could theoretically be used to identify you. For example: your country of residence, country of origin, Kurdish variety, and map location together might narrow down who you are.
These questions are marked prominently within the survey with an amber highlight and a privacy note. They are all optional.
When publishing research results, data will be presented in aggregate form. Individual responses will not be published in a way that could identify participants.
Map Location Data
If you use the interactive map to mark locations, the coordinates you place are stored alongside your other answers. These coordinates are not linked to any device location service - you are placing them manually. For publication purposes, coordinates will be rounded (reduced precision) to avoid enabling pinpointing of specific properties or addresses. The map is entirely optional.
Email Address
At the end of the survey, you may optionally provide an email address if you would like to be informed of results or invited to follow-up work. This is strictly voluntary.
Email addresses are stored in the same database as survey responses but are treated as a separate, more sensitive data category. They will only be used to contact you for the purposes stated. They will not be shared with third parties or used for any other purpose.
Your Rights
- Right to stop: You can stop filling in the survey at any time. Nothing is stored until you click Submit.
- Right to withdraw: If you have submitted a response and wish to have it deleted, contact us at christianschuler8989@gmail.com. Because responses are anonymous, we may need to ask you to describe your answers in enough detail for us to locate and delete your record.
- Questions and concerns: Contact the researcher at the address above.
