The Spirit of This Project

There is a long history of researchers studying language communities without genuinely involving them. The result is often research that answers questions communities never asked, builds tools they do not need, and leaves participants with nothing in return.

This project is designed against that pattern. Before deciding what to build or study, we want to hear from Kurdish speakers themselves: how they experience their language, what they value about it, and what kind of support or research would actually be useful.

That means the survey results will directly shape what we do next - not just as background context, but as the organizing principle of our research agenda.

What Happens with the Results

• Results will be published openly so that communities can read the findings and form their own views about them.
• Key findings will be shared in accessible form, not only in academic publications.
• The results will directly inform decisions about what research and technology development to pursue next.
• Participants who have shared their email address (voluntarily) will be contacted when results are available, and may be invited to participate in follow-up work.

About the Languages of this Survey

This prototype is currently available in English. Versions in Kurmanji (Latin script), Sorani (Arabic script), and other languages are being prepared with the involvement of native speakers.
